Bio
Cordell Parvin
Cordell began practicing law in 1971, ultimately building a national construction law practice representing some of the top highway and transportation construction contractors in the U.S.
After 37 years in practice, he began coaching lawyers within his own firm. The goal was to double originations in two years—but when that goal was met in just one, Cordell decided to shift his focus full time to helping lawyers succeed.
Over the years, Cordell became a well-known speaker, writer, and blogger on career and client development for lawyers. He delivered presentations to law firms and bar associations across the United States and Canada, published four books on career and client development, created a video Client Development Series: Securing, Retaining and Expanding Relationships with Your Clients, and wrote the Practical Success column for The Practical Lawyer.
You can learn more about his coaching, his coaching books, and his video series on his blog.

I practiced law for 37 years. During that time, I developed a nationwide construction law practice. In 2004, I began coaching lawyers in my Dallas-based national law firm and found it so fulfilling that I decided to give up my law career after my most successful year. From 2005 to 2020, I coached over 1,000 lawyers in the United States and Canada. I am most proud that many of the lawyers I coached have become leaders or top rainmakers in their law firms. I have now retired from coaching lawyers, which gives me time to focus on writing novels.
The protagonist of my novel series is no accident. I purposefully chose Gabriela Sanchez, a formidable lawyer, to lead the Gabriela Sanchez series. You can find out the reasons for this specific choice and how it shapes her character in an interview when I was asked why I chose her. Know more
BOOK SERIES
Her Father’s Honor: A daughter’s love. A father’s life. A jury’s final word.
When legendary South Texas trial lawyer Roberto Sánchez is indicted for conspiracy to obstruct justice in a decades-old murder case, his daughter Gabriela Sánchez returns home to defend him.
Gabriela is a successful federal defense attorney in Dallas. Roberto is a courtroom icon whose reputation shaped her childhood and her career. Taking his case means more than risking her professional standing—it means questioning the man who taught her everything she knows about the law.
As the trial unfolds, Gabriela uncovers troubling inconsistencies: altered juror records, missing metadata, witnesses whose memories blur under pressure, and a former prosecutor whose fingerprints appear where they shouldn’t. The deeper she digs, the more she is forced to confront an unsettling possibility—not just about the case, but about the system her father once ruled.
Inside the courtroom, Gabriela faces ruthless prosecutors, a skeptical jury, and the most difficult adversary of all: her own father, who struggles to relinquish control even as the past closes in.
Her Father’s Honor, the Fifth Book of the Gabriela Sanchez Series, is a tense courtroom drama about power, loyalty, and the fragile line between justice and influence. It asks a dangerous question:
What happens when the truth threatens the legacy we were raised to protect?

With her reputation and future at stake, Lauren joins forces with Luke Hartley, a lawyer fighting his own battles, to take a stand in court where intimidation is par for the course, but justice isn’t.
America’s Law Firm: Built to Win: Bound to Fail
America’s Law Firm is a legal thriller and contemporary fiction novel. The story explores the rise and fall of a powerful law firm through the eyes of a driven but conflicted partner. The tone is suspenseful, fast-paced, and emotionally layered, with themes of ambition, betrayal, and moral reckoning. It combines courtroom drama with corporate intrigue, making it ideal for fans of legal thrillers like those by Scott Turow or Michael Connelly.
Countdown To Justice
Fresh from successfully defending a Texas billionaire, Gabriela Sanchez wants to avoid the media spotlight. Then she is asked to represent Gina Rossi, a determined, driven, cold-as-ice lawyer who refuses to testify in a grand jury bribery investigation of her client and the former Texas governor.
Defending a client against the Department of Justice is at best a daunting task, but Gina Rossi makes it even more difficult when she is unwilling to listen to Gabriela’s legal advice and refuses to tell her all of the important facts.
Rossi claims she cannot testify because of the lawyer-client privilege and she asserts the government will charge her with perjury if she doesn’t tell the story they want to hear.
Why is Gina willing to go to jail, risk her career and take on the Department of Justice? Gabriela believes Gina knows something that she needs to keep secret. How far is Gina willing to go to keep what she knows secret?
Her Best Defense
This is the third in a series of novels featuring the lawyer, Gabriela Sanchez. In Her Best Defense, Gabriela Sanchez agrees to represent a seventeen-year-old girl who, along with her sixteen-year-old friend, is accused of murdering a prominent Dallas business man, stealing his car and heading for Miami. After agreeing to defend the teenager her Congressman in the Rio Grande Valley announces he wants to retire and wants Gabriela to run for his seat. In Texas the seventeen year old defendant is treated as an adult for trial. The teenager’s trial is scheduled for March of 2020, giving Gabriela the opportunity to return to the Rio Grande Valley and run for Congress. What could possibly go wrong?
Shadow of Doubt.
When Texas oil tycoon Phillip Morrison is charged with murdering a journalist, defense attorney Gabriela Sanchez steps into the fight of her career. The evidence looks airtight, and powerful enemies line up against her. As the trial unfolds, Gabriela must navigate buried secrets and a conspiracy designed to destroy Morrison. In this case, winning may come at a price she cannot afford to pay.
